A día de hoy podemos ya afirmar que otros tres niños con PCI van a llevar una vida totalmente normal, en contra de las previsiones que se les habían hecho. No queremos con ello crear falsas expectativas porque no todos los casos son iguales ni las edades son las mismas. Sí podemos decir que cuanto más pronto se actúe más posibilidades hay de que la situación revierta. El margen de edad para la actuación es amplio, en general, quizás hasta la pubertad, aunque depende del grado de afectación. Con ello tratamos de transmitir un poco de calma a todos los que nos llaman impacientes para empezar. A todos les llegará su momento y confiamos en que el resultado sea igual de positivo.

116 patients (more than 90 %) returned the completed evaluation form. Clinical improvements (Figure 1) were reported in most patients (66.4%).

Improvements mainly included increased motor functioning with decreased spasticity, resulting in improved sitting, standing, walking and posture stability, as well as an improvement in mental functions resulting in better communication.

Improvement of speech was mentioned by 28 patients, and a major reduction or even absence of epileptic seizures during the recorded post-treatment period was reported by 11 responders.

More than 90% of all the improvements started within 8 weeks after the application of Autologous Stem Cells.
